The WeeGee exhibition centre – a hub for museums, exhibitions and events – is located in the former Weilin&Göös printing house in Tapiola, Espoo. The premises house Espoo’s modern art museum EMMA, Espoo’s city museum KAMU, the Mauri Kunnas exhibition, the Futuro House as well as a museum shop and a café.
Punta supplied WeeGee's lobbies with storage solutions tailored to the needs of a wide range of visitors: long-door wardrobes and two different sizes of lockers, 250 in total.
The long-door wardrobes for storing long coats and outerwear are VKP steel cabinets with glass doors. The popular LK4 lockers, also known as bag lockers, can hold a wide range of items from bags and backpacks to bicycle helmets. The 60 cm deep compartments, on the other hand, are suitable for the so-called hand luggage. The themes of glass and black are also echoed on the lockers.
Wardrobes and cabinets are equipped with electronic Digilock Axis numeric code locks that people of all ages find easy to use. The numeric code locks are black as well.
The WeeGee building provides a black-and-white frame(work) for diverse activities and colourful experiences. Glass surfaces and heavy, industrial concrete form a consistent and clear theme throughout the building. The storage solutions were designed in close cooperation between the user, designer and supplier, to match the whole ensemble.
Kaisa Breilin-Brandt from Punta sales department is pleased that architects have noticed Punta’s products and how well they are suited to different environments. Punta’s cabinets and lockers can be tailored to create a good-looking and functional solution.
Since the look of our basic cabinets adapts to various spaces, we managed to create a thoroughly thought-through solution for this environment, dominated by concrete surfaces and brick walls, where everything works together and is pleasing to the eye. The installation also went smoothly, with Nykypuu Oy taking care of the locker cover plates and bench recesses between the lockers, and Asennus Finland installing the lockers.
