Punta acquires Core Factory and strengthens its position as system supplier for smart locker solutions
Punta Oy, producer of parcel delivery, locking and storage solutions and related systems, has acquired the Helsinki-based Core Factory Oy. Core Factory focuses on smart solutions for pick-up automation and AI-assisted analysing of retail refrigeration equipment. Through the merger of businesses, Punta strengthens its position as a comprehensive system supplier of smart lockers and locker solutions in Finland.
“The acquisition of Core Factory is a significant and logical step in the implementation of Punta’s systematic growth and internationalisation strategy. Thanks to the transaction, Punta will also have strong in-house system expertise in the future. We warmly welcome Core Factory’s employees into the dynamic Punta,” says Ilkka Wäck, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Punta Oy.
“In line with our strategy, Punta has evolved from a traditional, production-oriented metal product company into a technology company that serves its customers comprehensively. In automated lockers that make use of AI, we see the future of retail, healthcare and industrial services, among others. Storage and pick-up solutions must work seamlessly and reliably from the point of view of both producer and customer, regardless of whether we are talking about foodstuff that requires cold storage, care supplies, storage of evidence at a police station, the IT equipment of an educational consortium or the purse of a museum visitor,” says Pekka Leppälä, CEO of Punta Oy.
“We have a strong shared vision with Punta on the market and its development. By combining the expertise of Core Factory and Punta, we can serve the customers of both companies in an even smoother and more versatile way in the future – in Finland as well as internationally,” says Juho Jakka, CEO of Core Factory Oy.
The corporate transaction has no impact on Punta Oy’s long-term cooperation with its German system partner Pareva GmbH or on other existing partnerships of Punta or Core Factory.
