The growing popularity of online shopping for food and consumer goods has placed new demands on the customer service and logistics of retail chains. Osuuskauppa Keskimaa wanted to meet these challenges by implementing Punta's innovative solutions that offer efficiency and improve the customer experience. The cooperation between Osuuskauppa Keskimaa and Punta started at the end of 2020 as an ambitious pilot project, where both parties wanted to show their best and commit to high quality and common goals.

PuntaSuite software guarantees a smooth process
Osuuskauppa Keskimaa’s S-kaupat.fi pick-up lockers are located in 15 S-markets and three Prismas. From these pick-up points, the customer can pick up the food they ordered freely during their own pick-up window, without the staff’s time being spent on the pick-up process.
At the core of the pick-up point operation is Punta’s PuntaSuite software, which automates order management and customer communication and enables a smooth and efficient process from start to finish.
“Automation has lightened the staff’s workload significantly and enabled us to operate even more efficiently without additional investments in large facilities or additional resources,” says Hoffrén.
“Our customers have also been very satisfied with the usability and clarity of the software.”
Scalability with the Click&Collect entity
Prisma.fi’s consumer goods online store pick-up lockers serve customers in all three Prismas of Keskimaa. The lockers for consumer goods use Punta’s Click & Collect entity, which covers both the lockers and the software.
Prisma.fi’s pick-up lockers are designed to facilitate the pick up of consumer goods purchased from the online store. The solution is fully scalable, and pick-up points can be expanded with additional models and capacity to meet the growing demand.
“When we started the project, we didn’t know exactly how many lockers would be needed or what size they should be. The data collected now helps to optimize the capacity and serve our customers even better,” says Hoffrén.
Prisma.fi pick-up lockers enable easy pick up of goods purchased from the online store, which improves the customer experience and increases the use of the online store, especially in the consumer goods category. This has been one of the most important achievements of the cooperation so far.
Reliable solutions and satisfied customers
The reliability of the solutions supplied by Punta has been one of the cornerstones of the cooperation.
“The reliability of the equipment and software has enabled us to provide uninterrupted customer service. This has not only lightened the workload but also significantly increased customer satisfaction,” says Hoffrén.
“There is a total of more than 400 compartments in the pick-up points, which serve both S-kaupat.fi and Prisma.fi customers,” he continues.
In addition to these, Osuuskauppa Keskimaa also uses a live service developed by Punta, which complements the locker solutions. The live service is specially designed to ease rush hours and the pick-up of special large-sized products. The service ensures that customers receive the products they ordered effortlessly and on time.
Innovative plans for the future
The success of the pilot project has created a strong foundation for long-term cooperation. Osuuskauppa Keskimaa and Punta have continued to develop solutions together, and new, innovative projects are already being planned.
One of the most interesting future projects is the Osuuskauppa Keskimaa apartment hotel to be built in the Himos area, the service offering of which will also utilize Punta’s locker solutions. The lockers will offer hotel guests and cottagers in the area a flexible way to pick up food online store orders around the clock. The solution improves the customer’s user experience and enables more efficient logistics in the tourist destination as well.
“The Himos project is a demonstration of how locker technology can be applied to different environments in versatile ways. We are excited that we can bring a new kind of smoothness to the tourism industry as well,” states Hoffrén.
Punta’s sales manager Marko Vornanen is also proud of the new project, as it shows that innovative locker solutions can find their place in different environments where flexibility and ease of use are key.
